Character Skills

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
All playable races have skill scores. There are 24 skills in total. These skills are utilised in a number of ways and determine how strong, stealthy, charismatic, and even how religious they are. Each race grants a few starting skills, however, how those skills develop are entirely down to you. These kills are also used in skill checks throughout the universe.


ALCHEMY
Determines your alchemical knowledge
Your ability to craft alchemy items
Access to and ability to use alchemy ingredients
Used in the following checks: alchemy, flora

ATHLETICISM
How well you can climb, jump, run, and reach certain areas
Levels of fitness and other physical abilities
Used in the following checks: athleticism, climbing, fitness, physicality

CHARISMA
Ability to converse
How likeable you are
Ability to drive bargains for sale and purchase of goods
Used in the following checks: charisma, trade deals, negotiation

DETERMINATION
How much you are willing to give to accomplish a set goal or target
Overall determination to complete a task
How determined you are to succeed
Used in the following checks: determination, constitution

DIPLOMACY
Ability to resolve issues and open / pursue dialogue with other inhabitants
Used in the following checks: diplomacy, negotiation

ENGINEERING
Understanding of how things work
Engineering ability and use of certain blueprints
Used in the following checks: engineering, analytical

HACKING
Ability to hack into secure databases
Ability to hack doors, chests, and other digitally locked items
Used in the following checks: hacking, digital scanning

INTELLIGENCE
How intelligent your character is
Ability to problem solve in certain situations
Ability to sway other inhabitants minds depending on topic of conversation
Used in the following checks: intelligence, negotiation

INVESTIGATION
Ability to investigate items, doorways, relics etc
Ability to identify hazards, security items, and other secret areas
Used in the following checks: investigation, grading

KNOWLEDGE
Overall knowledge of the universe
Overall knowledge of certain items, inhabitants, and places of interest
Used in the following checks: knowledge, negotiation

LEADERSHIP
Overall leadership within the crew
Each point in leadership grants you 1 vote. So, if you have leadership 5, then you have 5 votes which can be used any time voting is required
Used in the following checks: leadership, voting, respect

LOCKPICKING
Ability to lockpick into secure areas
Ability to lockpick doors, chests, and other locked items
Used in the following checks: hacking, digital scanning

LUCK
Just how lucky are you?
Complete randomness
Used in the following checks: luck

MEDICAL
Overall medical ability
Ability to craft / utilise medical items
Understanding of key medical items found throughout the universe
Used in the following checks: medical, health

MENTALITY
Overall mentality
Belief in yourself and others
How affected you are by outward factors
Affects fear and anxiety levels
Used in the following checks: mentality

MERCANTILE
Overall understanding of trade across the cosmos
Ability to influence Zenbot and other traders when the opportunity presents
Possible better pricing when buying and selling
Used in the following checks: mercantile

RELIGION
How religious your character is
Overall understanding of the many religions across the cosmos
Ability to converse with others of faith
Ability to engage and interact with religious objects
Used in the following checks: religion

SCIENCE
Overall understanding of the many religions across the cosmos
Ability to converse with others of faith
Ability to engage and interact with religious objects
Used in the following checks: science

SPEED
How quick you are. Affects running speed
Used in the following checks: speed

STEALTH
Ability to sneak
Ability to embrace the shadows
Determines potential for a free first attack
Used in the following checks: stealth

STRENGTH
How strong you are overall

SURVEILLANCE
Ability to observe, and thwart observations
Gain additional knowledge of items, inhabitants and areas when presented

SURVIVALISM
Survival ability
Opens up survival options when presented

XENOBIOLOGY
Overall understanding of alien worlds
Solid knowledge of alien biology
